Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh
When a person has a job or work for their living, they are employed. Conversely, when they have no job, they are unemployed. In a country, if there are more able-bodied people than available jobs, it leads to an unemployment problem. Bangladesh is currently facing this issue seriously.
Bangladesh is not a rich country, though it is considered a developing nation. However, it has a large population in a small geographic area. The birth rate in the country has been consistently high, and the population is increasing day by day. It has become beyond the country's capacity to provide jobs for all its people. At present, the population stands at around 160 million, with about 850 people living per square kilometer. In reality, Bangladesh feeds its people with the assistance of other countries. After ensuring food security, the country cannot create sufficient job opportunities for its unemployed population.
Unemployment can easily lead frustrated individuals to engage in harmful activities. An unemployed person often becomes either frustrated or idle. Moreover, when they remain without work, they tend to disregard authority or societal norms. There is a popular saying: "An idle brain is the devil's workshop." Nowadays, much of the social disorder in Bangladesh can be attributed to unemployment, making it a severe curse for the country.
However, we can improve the situation ourselves. The first step is to control the high birth rate. Additionally, the desire to work only in cities should be changed. People can engage in self-employment in rural areas. In this regard, the government should support unemployed individuals with technical education and financial assistance. The government should also expand opportunities in the field of technology. Furthermore, parents and guardians can play a significant role by providing their children with good advice, encouragement, and guidance.
